L’Escale Marine

Who are we ?

For Olivier Dardé, Director of Somewhere to Meet, the hotel business: “is a story of encounters, sharing and conviviality”.

Olivier Dardé is a renowned chef (member of the Académie Culinaire de France and Les Compagnons du Tour de France) and he has extended his range of skills to the hotel business.

“From the 49 rooms to the common areas, we rethought everything during the renovations, designing living spaces that are dedicated to sharing and conviviality.”

Renamed L’Escale Marine, the former Hôtel Sainte-Marine embodies a hotel philosophy based on the discovery of a region, the people who bring it to life and the local heritage. A local heritage that can also be found on the plates of the establishment’s bistronomic restaurant !

The History of our Hotel

The history of L’Escale Marine dates back to the late 19th century. At that time, the first Hôtel Sainte-Marine was built in the heart of the fishermen’s district, on the site of the former Chapel of Sainte-Marine. Architect Gaston Chabal was commissioned to enlarge the building in 1947, and it underwent numerous alterations until the second half of the 20th century.

It was the scene of the French Resistance during the Second World War, protecting pilots being repatriated to England.

The hotel then became a private residence, and another, more “recent” hotel was built, 100 m from the beach, called the Hôtel Sainte-Marine. It was within these completely renovated walls that L’Escale Marine was born in 2022.
